Privacy policy
Short version: DotDotDoit runs entirely on your device. We don’t have accounts, we don’t show ads, and we don’t track you. Your audio, camera frames and messages never leave your phone.
What we collect
Nothing. DotDotDoit has no accounts and no sign-in. We don’t use analytics, advertising SDKs, or third-party trackers. We don’t build a profile of you, and we have no servers that receive your content.
Everything happens on your device
All of the app’s work — encoding messages, decoding sound, reading a blinking light or a photo, playing tones, and saving exports — runs locally on your phone. Microphone audio and camera frames are processed live to decode Morse and are not recorded, stored, or transmitted. Messages you type or decode stay on your device.
Permissions we ask for — and why
The app only requests a permission when a feature needs it, and each is used entirely on-device:
| Permission | Why | Leaves device? |
|---|---|---|
| Microphone | Decode Morse from live beeps (audio receive) | No |
| Camera | Decode Morse from a blinking light, or read a photo of dots & dashes | No |
| Torch / flashlight | Send Morse as torch flashes | No |
| Vibration | Send and feel Morse as haptics | No |
| Photos / storage | Only to save exports you create (image, wallpaper, GIF, .wav) | No |
You can decline any permission and still use the rest of the app; only the matching feature will be unavailable.
Exports you create
When you export a message as an image, wallpaper, animated GIF, or .wav, the file is saved to your device (or shared via your phone’s own share sheet if you choose to). We don’t receive a copy.
This website
The website at dotdotdoit.com mirrors the app’s promise: it ships no third-party trackers, no advertising scripts, and no cookie-based analytics. The interactive translator and practice tools run entirely in your browser and send nothing to a server. Standard server logs may record basic request data (such as your IP address and page requested) for security and reliability, as is normal for any website; we don’t use it to profile you.
Children
DotDotDoit is family-friendly and collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how the app or site handles data, we’ll update this page. Because the core promise is “nothing leaves your device,” we don’t expect that to change.
